“Kaun Banega Crorepati” Season 1
Season 1 of “Kaun Banega Crorepati” was presented in the year 2000-01. Harshvardhan Nawathe, an aspiring civil services candidate, became the first ever contestant to win Rs 1 crore prize money on “Kaun Banega Crorepati”.
“Kaun Banega Crorepati” Season 2
“Kaun Banega Crorepati” came back with its second season in 2005, after a considerable gap of four years. This season, Brijesh Dwivedi became Crorepati on the show, while another crore worth of prize money was bagged by the celebrity couple, Ajay Devgan and Kajol in a special episode.
“Kaun Banega Crorepati” Season 3
Season 3 of “Kaun Banega Crorepati” was hosted by Shahrukh Khan in 2007, but unfortunately, none of the contestants were able to win the ultimate title of Crorepati in this season.
“Kaun Banega Crorepati” Season 4
“Kaun Banega Crorepati” Season 4 was aired on Sony TV for the first time in 2010 and saw the return of Mr Amitabh Bachchan. This season saw Rahat Taslim as the winner of the grand prize of Rs 1 crore.
“Kaun Banega Crorepati” Season 5
Season 5 of “Kaun Banega Crorepati” 2011 saw a big change, with the prize money raised to a whopping Rs 5 crore. This phenomenal sum was bagged by Sushil Kumar from Bihar, who became the highest prize winner on the show till date. Anil Kumar Sinha was another contestant who won Rs 1 crore this season.

“Kaun Banega Crorepati” Season 6 2012 featured two such contestants who were able to get theprize worth Rs 1 crore, namely Manoj Kumar Raina and Sunmeet Kaur Sawhney.
“Kaun Banega Crorepati” Season 7
“Kaun Banega Crorepati” Season 7 again saw two Crorepati contestants, Taj Mohammad Rangrez and Firoz Fatima winning Rs 1 crore each.
“Kaun Banega Crorepati” Season 8
Brothers Achin and Sarthak Narula created history on “Kaun Banega Crorepati” by winning an incredible prize money of Rs 7 crore in Season 8 of the show, which was aired in 2014.
In addition to these big winners, Ravi Saini won Rs 1 crore on “Kaun Banega Crorepati” Junior and Vijay and Arundhati Raul bagged the same amount in “Kaun Banega Crorepati” Jodi.

The Seventh season (called KBC 7) is hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. The total prize money has been increased to INR 7 crore. The season commenced on 6 September 2013, exactly after an year of KBC 6. Due to the huge jackpot of Rs. 7 crore, the season is also referred to as Kaun Banega MahaCrorepati.

Q. Who can register?
A.Anyone who is an Indian citizen, residing in India, of 18 years or above as on May 25, 2012 and the citizen should be of sound health and mind can Registerfor KBC. No person can participate on behalf of another person.
A.Registration lines (both IVRS – phone and SMS - messaging) are open from 21:00:00 hrs on May 28, 2012, when the first question goes on air, till 20:59:59 hrs on June 7, 2012, for all viewers. The Schedule of on-air registrationquestions during this period will be as below:

On successful completion of Level and Level2, all selected Registrants will be evaluated and shortlisted by the randomizer on pre-defined Reservation criteria, and approximately 3,600 Registrants will be selected to attend the Audition venue as Auditionees, of which around 360 will be First Idea Pass Round Period Registrants. In the event there are less than the required number of Registrants, the Registrants with less than the required number of correct answers may be selected by the randomizer. In the event of a tie, the answer to the „nearest to‟ questions will be used to select the correct entry.

Individual The first round of Auditions will be conducted from the period commencing from June 26, 2012 through July 11, 2012 (“First Audition Period”). The timings for registration of Auditionees will be intimated, and cannot be changed or modified to suit Auditionee‟s requirements.

Sushil Kumar now hopes to become a school teacher.But that is past. His dream of taking coaching in New Delhi to become an IAS officer never fructified and his stint as an icon to whom the young KBC aspirants looked upon for guidance is all but over.Earlier this week a ‘frustrated’ Kumar met former Bihar CM Nitish Kumar for the first time at his Patna residence to “congratulate him for the good work he had done for Bihar as its CM”.Nitish persuaded him to give a ‘motivational speech’ to JD(U) youth wing activists gathered at his house in Patna.But if Kumar was looking for a possible break in politics, ahead of the Bihar assembly poll due later this year, he got nothing that could raise his hopes.“Politics never came up for discussion. Perhaps, I am not cut out for it”, he told HT.Now 32, Kumar concedes the best he could now hope for is to become a school teacher. “I have done B.Ed, you know”, he said, wistfully.
A little over three years after he was declared KBC winner, Kumar acknowledges that the spotlight is long gone.After taxes took their toll on Kumar’s KBC booty, his prize money had declined to approximately Rs 3.6 crore. Kumar acknowledges very little of that money remains.“Much of the money was spent in building a house which I share with my parents and four brothers. I have also purchased a plot of land in Motihari in the name of my mother and some agricultural land”, he said.Another chunk of the prize amount, he said, was spent on setting up businesses for his brothers “as we are still a joint family”.But he concedes such ‘joint efforts’ have not gone well with his wife. “She feels little has gone her way in terms of the fruits of my KBC victory and that her life had not improved anywhere near the way it should have with so much money coming my way”, Kumar conceded.The 2011 KBC hero says he has some interest income from bank fixed deposits made out of the KBC money and a small income from drawing milk from four cows he has purchased.
- “But I can’t say my earning in anywhere near enough”, he admitted.
